What has Death Doula Danielle Been Up To?

Since the beginning of the year I've had the honor of guiding three more clients and their families through the conclusion of their human experience. This business of tending to the dying and bereaved is the most humbling and rewarding "work" I've ever done. The sacred experience of a last breath is a profound and deeply personal moment that holds immense significance for both the dying individual and those witnessing it. It marks the transition from Earthly existence to whatever lies beyond and it carries within it the weight of a lifetime of experiences, emotions and connections.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who have allowed me into your stories and welcomed me into your families. Your trust in me during such a profoundly intimate and sacred moment is something I will forever hold in my heart.

Conscious Crossroads Got a New Look!

I am so happy with the new logo and the symbolism behind it.

The 3 phases of a dandelion represent the sun, moon and stars. The yellow flower represents the sun, the white puff ball represents the moon and the dispersing seeds represent the stars. Blowing the seeds of a dandelion is thought to carry wishes and dreams on the wind, symbolizing hope, optimism, and the power of manifestation. Dandelions can survive in harsh environments, representing the ability to overcome challenges and hardships. They can also transform and bloom again after loss, symbolizing the ability to survive change.

The swallow holds deep symbolism as a harbinger of homecoming. They're extremely loyal and have the ability to return to the same nest every year, even after migrating thousands of miles across continents. This innate homing instinct has cemented swallows as an emblem of stability, family bonds, and the comforting embrace of home. They can also represent personal transformation, growth, and the journey of life.

Join me at The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho

June 10th, 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Death is not a dirty word. None of us will make it out of here alive, so let’s talk about it! How you want to die is extremely personal and about so much more than just the medical and legal aspects. This presentation offers you the chance to view your end-of-life planning, not as a dreaded chore, but as an opportunity to develop a more conscious, richer relationship with your life. Registration is $6.

Presentation in partnership with The Neighborhood in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque Oasis.

Death Doula Danielle is officially NEDA Proficient!

I'm very happy to announce that I've recently passed the National End of Life Doula Alliance (NEDA) Proficiency Exam, indicating that I've demonstrated Proficiency in the NEDA Core Competencies.

At this time Death Doulas do not have

an over-arching, over-seeing, licensing

or credentialing body governing their practice. I've chosen to uphold the Professional Standards of Practice

and keep my services within the Scope of Practice outlined by NEDA.

The National End of Life Doula Alliance's mission is to influence positive changes in how people experience end of life by developing and advocating numerous efforts that improve access to a broad spectrum of holistic non-medical support provided by end-of-life doulas (EOLDs). Our goal is to elevate the role of EOLDs to a position that is recognized, understood, utilized, and well-integrated into mainstream end-of-life care practices.

Mortality Movies TV Series, Coming Soon!

This week I'm joining The Doyenne of Death, Gail Rubin and Death Educator & EOLONM Advocate, Jane Westbrook to record the first episode of Mortality Movies, a TV series.

This program brings together a panel of death educators to comment on film clips related to death, funerals, grief, and related end-of-life issues.
